Casey & Jeff

Casey and Jeff are from Indiana. They live in an historic district of Irvington in a beautiful home they plan to restore. Casey is my niece and they came to SW Florida to spend Thanksgiving with us. When I offered to take her portraits, she instead wanted portraits of her and Jeff. Since they are a very hipster couple, I thought the Riverside District of Downtown Fort Myers would be the perfect setting and boy was I right! I had never taken images outside, downtown Fort Myers before and this would be my first couple session. Needless to say I was excited and nervous. My daughter, Emily came to help. She herself is a very talented photographer!

Kelly Pohler

Kelly Pohler has been living in SW Florida for nearly 25 years.  She has done so much in her life, from singing to interior decorating.  She simply wanted fabulous images of herself as she said "I am just tired of the selfie photos!"  So we wanted to capture her in her glorious 50+ self!  Isn't she just stunning!  Make sure to click on the images to see the full photo!

Ralphie the Pug

A very dear friend of mine, Cathy (who I have photographed a few times) called me Friday before Easter, and gave me heartbreaking news that her service dog, Ralphie was ill and had been given only a few months at most to live.  I told her to come in as soon as she could.  She said she would come in the following week.  She then messaged me the next day and said I don't think he will make it that long, can we do it sooner.  I cleared my Easter plans and told her to come in tomorrow.  I am so glad we did, as he passed away in his sleep just two days later.  Here are the images we captured of her and Ralphie.  You can click on the images to see the full image.

The White Sheet Session inspired by Sue Bryce

My mentor is Sue Bryce, a Photographer from New Zealand has become one of the leading educators in her field.  With countless awards from around the globe, she inspires her students and teaches us every day to become a better photographer, business owner and to live our lives to the fullest.  She created the "White Sheet" boudoir session and this was my first time shooting it.

The Model

Emily Rose, is a 20 year old woman from Cape Coral, Florida.  She graduated from Island Coast High School and is a server at Waffle House.  She is my daughter.  Emily is a very talented photographer herself, and she inspired me to pick up my own camera and fulfill my dreams of becoming a photographer.  What takes most photographers years to master, she is a natural at.

She wanted to do this type of session, for her girlfriend Amanda as a gift for Christmas.  I did her hair and make up, as I do for all of my clients and we designed the shoot together.  We can't wait to do other shoots in the future.  I couldn't ask for a more beautiful, confident, graceful and loving model to work with.  Here are a few from her shoot.

April

April grew up across the street from my family and became my kids best friend overnight.  I watched this girl grow up and become the beautiful young lady she is today.  She has seen some really hard times in her short life.  But has come through it all.  She is family to me and I love her like a daughter.  It took me months to get her in front of my camera and now she can't wait to do another shoot with me!  Below are just a few images from her first shoot.  Her next shoot will be more of a Rockabilly styled shoot!  How fun will that be?!

Family Shoot

When my daughter's friend contacted me to do her photo shoot for her children, she wanted only the children to be in the photos.  She has 4 children.  Well, I couldn't just let her not be in the shoot as well.  I asked her if I created a special shoot just for her, would she change her mind and allow me to include her in those photos.  She agreed.

She went shopping for her children's outfits for their shoot, and I went shopping and sewing for the shoot to include her in.  After the shoot, I found out that she wasn't excited about what I had designed before the shoot, but after I was done, she said that she was more excited to see the finished images of the Vintage look I had created for her.

At her reveal, she actually bought more images of the Vintage shoot than she did of the others.  She was thrilled with what I created and said "from now on, I will trust you and your creativity for all of our future shoots!"

Destiny's Senior Shoot

Destiny came down from Tampa to have me design and shoot his Senior Photos.  She allowed me to create a shoot just for her.  Her only request was to honor her heritage and she wanted an African styled shoot.

I designed and made a feather neck crown, as well as pared it with a tulle skirt and one of our vintage tops.  It turned out amazing!  I plan to submit the image to my next Awards and Accreditation for The Portrait Masters.

She is a dancer and wanted to show off her dance shoes.  She Did Ballet and Jazz during her high school years.

You will see her incredible top that she brought to the shoot and the dress and flower crown that she picked out of my wardrobe to have photographs in.  As well as one of our pink sweaters with faux fur around the collar.  You will also see many tops pared with tulle skirts, all of which came from our wardrobe.

Her mother exclaimed "how fun this is, getting to play dress up!"

She was incredible to photograph, full of grace and beauty.  I wish her well as she begins her journey through life.  I thank her for giving me the honor to capture this moment in her journey.

Awards Oct 2017

I am so nervous to enter my first portraits into the Sue Bryce Education AKA The Portrait Masters Awards and Accreditation Program.  I have been taking portraits for about a year and have 9 Photo shoots under me.   I know this doesn't sound like alot, but when it comes to each shoot, I pour my heart, soul and creativity into each one.  I am not a photographer that lines them up and just snaps a few images during a mini session and yells "next"!  I want each one of my clients to have a very unique and special photo shoot just for them

.  So when choosing the images that I was going to submit, I wanted ones that I felt the most connection with.  The ones that I was the most creative with.  I am so proud of these images, but most important I am so blesses to have clients who want to be photographed in unique ways.

The next year I will be focused on building a creative photography business.  From vintage looks to steampunk to dancers... from families, senior portraits and branding shoots.  Enough said on this subject.  I would like to show you my submissions!  I will update the scores I recieved on each one in a later blog.

Sarah

Sarah is from Mass. and has lived in Florida for 3 years.  She works at a doctors office and serves at a local seafood restaurant.  She has a 19 year old daughter, who she is extremely proud of.  She has many furbabies.  Sarah wanted a Marilyn Monroe styled shoot.  I made her the white tulle dress just for her shoot.  Here are some of my favorites from her shoot.

I met Jenna when she was 13 years old.  She was the best friend of a neighbor's daughter and quickly became friends with my children.  Jenna is an amazing young mother of two, with a personality that lights up the room as soon as she walks into it.  Her laugh is contagious!  When she laughs, the world laughs with her.  She will soon marry the love of her live and I wish them the best on this amazing journey they are about to embark on called, life.  One day, I hope to capture their family portrait for them.  Thank you Jenna for being who you are and allowing me to create portraits of you.  Here is my favorite one from her shoot and you will see below her before photos along with a few of her favorites.

Cathi worked with my fiance for about 2 years.  This is how we came to know and love her.  She is the sweetest girl.  She has a dog named Ralphie and just adores him.  She loves CosPlay and Cameras.  Cathi fell in love with my headbands that I sell on Etsy in my store, Lorettajos.  She is perfect for them as they are perfect for her.  Here is my favorite from her shoot and below you will find her before and along with some of her favorites.  Enjoy!

Courtney

Courtney friended me on Facebook because she was friends with the other girls that had their photos taken by me.  She is 24 and has had 5 children.  Not all of them live with her.  She has had an incredible hard beginning of life and I wanted to take a day and just have her be pampered.  Sometimes taking photos is more than just a click of a camera.  It is transforming a woman and having her see her true beauty.  I enjoyed getting to know her and by the end of the day she is more than just a friend of a friend.

During her photo shoot she loved all the clothes that she got to play dress up in.  Especially the handmade black tulle skirt!  I thought for a moment that she would be wearing it home!  She felt like a princess for a day!

Seeing her images and getting the feedback from others made her see herself in a totally different way, as a beautiful woman... not her past but her future.  This is why I do what I do, right here, that moment of pure joy and love.

Below is my favorite image from her photo shoot, and below that you will see her before photo along with others from that day.

Kristina

Kristina grew up across the street from us.  She is not only one of my kids best friends, she is family to us.  Actually, it is because she had a baby boy 2 years ago, that I started taking pictures of him and fell in love with being behind the camera.

Kristina was bullied and picked on as a child for her weight, even though she is the most beautiful women inside and out.  Because of being picked on she has an incredible heart and will give any one a chance.  She loves working with people and the elderly.  She has worked in nursing homes and sees first hand how some of them are treated.

When she looked at herself in the mirror she said "oh my god! I look like Marilyn Monroe, only with brown hair!"  Marilyn Monroe has been Kristina's idol since she was a little girl, it made my heart smile when she said that.  Her make up and Hair was done by me.

I have always wanted to take Kristina's photos to show her and the world how gorgeous she really is.  She calls me Mama Bear just like my own kids do and I love her as my own.  I would move heaven and earth to help her if she needed me.  Below you will see my favorite image from her shoot and underneath it you will find her before photos with other images from her day at the studio.

Julianna

I was so excited to shoot my 2nd photo shoot with Julianna, Tayla's younger sister.  She is 17 and a senior in High School.  She works part time at KFC.  Julianna is an absolute natural in front of the camera.  We laughed most of the day.  The best moment was when she saw the back of my camera and I heard her whisper to herself, "I didn't know I was that beautiful".

That is my goal for each and every woman or teen to see herself as the world sees them.  Gorgeous.  Here is my favorite image from her photo shoot and below you can click to see more images.

First Photoshoot

My first ever photo shoot is of Tayla, she is my daughter's best friend.  She had her son when she was 17 years old and this was her second child in less than 18 months.  Tayla is an incredible mother, even being so young.

I decided that I wanted to gift her the photo session, and make her a special dress for the occasion.  I created the dress using lace and satin.

She was 38 weeks pregnant when we took the photos and so very excited to have them taken.  Her little boy was there too, making sure Mama was ok.  Right after her daughter was born, we took a few quick photos of her while she was sleeping. Below is my favorite photo from her shoot and below that you will find other photos from her day with me along with photos of her precious Jaylee.
